What do I get with a free consultation?
Many law firms claim to offer a “free consultation.” But not every law firm’s definition of “free consultation” is the same. In fact, what this offering entails often varies widely from one law firm to another. Some firms offer a quick consultation by phone and make an evaluation about whether they can handle your case during the phone call. If that firm decides that it would like to handle your case, you might not even immediately get to meet with a lawyer about your case.
When you contact the Ritchie Law Firm, our Intake Specialists will gather all the information about your case either over the phone, in person or by email. While phone or in person makes gathering all the information easiest, we understand that there are often barriers to talking on the phone or coming in to our office. In those instances, we are happy to gather the information by email.
Once we have enough information to assess your case, we will make an evaluation about whether we believe we can assist you. If we believe the facts of your case are such that we can help you, we will arrange for you to speak with a lawyer in-person, by phone, or by video conference, whichever method is most convenient for you.
It is really not an intimidating process Our friendly staff will greet you and guide you through the initial process. Our lawyers are really just regular people who have worked as construction workers, teachers, bus drivers, and football coaches. They are approachable and understanding.
During your free consultation at the Ritchie Law Firm, you will meet with a lawyer, who will review any accident reports, medical records, or other documents you might have. The lawyer will ask details about your accident and injury. Then, if the lawyer believes your case is a good fit for our firm, he will explain how we handle your type of case. Then, he will ask you to sign medical releases so we can request your medical records.
Do I pay anything for the first meeting?
There is absolutely no charge for the initial meeting with the attorney and there is no pressure to hire our firm. We often have clients ask at the end of the first meeting how much they owe us. For the Ritchie Law Firm, free consultation means just that . . . FREE.
If you decide to hire us to handle your case, we will explain the process to you in plain English. You will have a legal assistant assigned to you who will be available by phone and email to answer all your questions and to give you updates about the progress of your case. You will receive copies of all letters we send out in your case.
Don’t make the mistake of talking with an adjuster or signing anything from the insurance company before you talk to a lawyer about your case.
